Work Process
How Reclaimed antique flooring is created:
No, we do not dismantle antique floorings from European castles. Nobody does. The castles are there to stay and be preserved at their original condition.
Pierre & HolzTM are constantly looking for old constructions
that are deserted or about to be demolished. We seek for
houses traditionally built and from Oak, Elm and even – in
certain countries – Teak. The strength of these materials
supported those constructions for decades or centuries and,
are a fine and durable base material for our floorings.
The process of recovering material from their original location
is complicated and sometimes dangerous due to the condition
of the building's structure. Well trained teams are carefully
collecting the appropriate beams, boards and planks, able to
see beyond their evident state of disrepair.
According to the dismantling location, the raw material is
forwarded to one of our 3 selection points. Experienced sawyers
saw off the unnecessary parts in order to provide the most
appropriate planks required for producing the floorings.
All nails, bolts and debris are manually removed. All holes,
either created by ages or cause due to removal of nails or
bolts are sealed by wood plugs originating from that very same
board. Excess cracks are filled by prime filling materials adapted
to the flooring industry, carefully selecting the texture and
colors.
Kiln or Air drying is used according to the timber in
issue. This step is significant for the final product's endurance
after installation.
This process has been successfully used for years for the manufacturing of antique floorings.
Our recent addition of Engineered Reclaimed Flooring has added more benefits to our products. In order to comply with contemporary installation and endurance demands, without compromising in any way with the final look, we have developed the multi-layer (engineered) flooring.
This adds to our process the final step of milling, grading, precision-squaring and end-matching the engineered flooring elements.
Latest-technological materials and machinery are used in both our production plants (one Israeli based co-owned parquet manufacturing plant and one subcontractor manufacturing under our strict license abroad) in order to supply that fine authentic looking and durable material.
